All, this event to honor our WWII heroes comes from the Nevada Department of Veterans Services. It's an opportunity to pay tribute to all of our  WWII veterans who helped thwart the tyranny of the Axis powers in Europe and Asia.

Veterans of WWII (or their widows) will each receive a distinctive pin at the ceremonies commemorating their service. The ceremonies are designed to honor all surviving and departed veterans who served honorably in WWII. At the end of the war in 1945, Americans all across the nation shouted, cried, rejoiced, exalted, prayed and sang the praises of the country's fighting forces who defended the nation by bravely combating enemy forces on several continents. Kat Miller, director of the Nevada Department of Veterans Services, said, "That patriotic spirit is rekindled each year during the 'Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive' campaign that serves to honor World War Two veterans. It also serves to keep patriotic  memories alive in the minds and hearts of the public." Her department is hosting the twin laudatory events at both ends of the state.
