Military Health System poised to support U.S. commitment to Global Health Security

President Obama announced Monday, Nov. 16, the United States' commitment to the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) during the G-20 Leaders' Summit in Antalya, Turkey. When the GHSA launched in February 2014, the U.S. committed to partner with 30 countries in support of the GHSA objectives.

The leader of the Military Health System says the nation owes more than just a debt of gratitude to those who have donned a military uniform. These men and women are owed access to care for a lifetime. Invoking the words of Abraham Lincoln's second inaugural address, Dr. Jonathan Woodson, assistant secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, said the military is meeting that obligation through working in partnerships with civilian medicine.
