Help Ratify the Disabilities Treaty |
Disabilities Treaty
VVA has been working with other VSO's and Disability organizations in a coalition headed by former Senator Bob Dole to ratify the Disabilities Treaty which has been ratified by 114 countries. You might be asking, what does this mean to you as a veteran. It means that the signatories of this treaty will have to make the changes in their country to make it disability friendly. The treaty was on the Senate floor once already this year and was voted down. Because of the efforts of Senator Dole and others we will have another chance in September.
There are seven Republican Senators who would make the difference if they would vote in favor of the treaty. We would like you to call their offices and ask them to vote for ratification of the Disability treaty.
The seven members are: Senator Burr (R-NC) 202-224-3154; Senator Portman (R-OH) 202-224-3353; Senator Scott (R-SC) 202-224-6121; Senator Grassley (R-IA) 202-224-3741; Senator Cochran (R-MS) 202224-5054; Senator Blunt (R-MO) 202-224-5721; and Senator Wicker (R-MS) 202-224-5054
Please make these calls for our veterans and all Americans who travel abroad. |
