The Department of Veterans Affairs says it has made "tremendous progress" in reducing a disability claims backlog that reached above 600,000 early last year. The Czech Defense Ministry says a soldier who was seriously injured in a blast that killed four other Czech servicemen in Afghanistan last week has died. US advisers in Iraq risk assassination by troops they are trying to train, according to a classified report.
